Narcissa Malfoy is a member of the House of Black, wife to Lucius Malfoy, and mother to Draco Malfoy. Her sisters are Bellatrix Lestrange and Andromeda Tonks (mother of Nymphadora Tonks). Her cousins are Regulus Black and Sirius Black. She is called Cissy which is short for Narcissa but it's also funny because Bellatrix calls her that and she is also her sister.Narcissa has her largest role in the last two books of the series. At this point, Lucius has twice failed his master, Lord Voldemort. The first time was in the Chamber of Secrets (Harry's second year at Hogwarts), when Lucius allows Lord Voldemort's diary/horcrux to be destroyed. The second time was in the Order of the Phoenix (Harry's fifth year at Hogwarts) when he allowed the prophecy to be destroyed. In The Half Blood Prince Draco Malfoy is given a chance to redeem his father's reputation, by performing a task that Voldemort gave him: killing Albus Dumbledore. Neither Voldemort nor Narcissa believe he is capable of performing this feat, even though failure will mean death for both father and son. Narcissa obviously doesn't want to lose her husband and son in service to Voldemort, and so she goes behind Voldemort's back to protect her family.First, she meets with Severus Snape shortly before the beginning of Harry Potter's sixth year (the Half Blood Prince). Snape agrees to take an unbreakable vow, that if Draco fails in his attempt to kill Dumbledore, Snape will do it in his stead. Snape agrees, and at the end of that year, as expected, Draco is unable to kill Dumbledore, so Snape does it for him. Before the next school year began, Voldemort broke Lucius Malfoy out of Azkaban, and used their home as his base of operations, although the family had obviously fallen out of favour. He still sought an excuse to kill the two Malfoys who had failed him. Draco still faithfully served him, and in Voldemort's service tried to defend Hogwarts from Harry when he finally returned to the school. Narcissa, however, was forced to stay outside the school with Voldemort, unable to see her son or protect him. This drove the final wedge between her and the Dark Lord: her family was more important to her than loyalty to Voldemort's cause.Harry then arrived to confront Voldemort in the Forbidden Forest and simply allow himself to be killed. This has the effect of destroying another Horcrux and rendering Voldemort unconscious. When Voldemort regains consciousness, he orders Narcissa to check Harry to see if he is truly dead. She realises instantly that he is alive, but lies to Voldemort, telling him the boy is dead, so that she can finally enter Hogwarts and be reunited with Draco. After the final battle the Malfoy family are reunited. Though Narcissa is grudgingly grateful to Potter for saving their family, it isn't shown that the Potters and the Malfoys ever become friends; although Draco does give Harry a courteous nod when he sees him many years later. Also known as: Cissy
