Lily Evans was born on the 30th of January 1960 to her muggle parents. Lily had an older sister, Petunia, who was non magical like her parents. They lived in Cokeworth, England. She had dark red hair, green eyes and light skin. Being the only witch in her family, she had the blood title of 'muggle-born'.At the age of nine, Lily met Severus Snape, a boy who lived in the next neighbourhood, and quickly became friends. Severus told Lily that she was a witch and taught her about the wizarding world while awaiting their acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Because he was from a poorer town, Petunia sneered at him, leaving the sisters to grow apart. Lily's parents were overjoyed to discover their daughter was a witch and happily supported her after her acceptance at Hogwarts, while Petunia was left jealous and hateful. Lily bought her wand from Ollivanders in Diagon Alley at the age of eleven, which had skill in charms.Upon arrival at Hogwarts, Lily was sorted into Gryffindor House while Severus was sorted into Slytherin, causing an immediate separation of the two. She befriended Molly Weasley and many others. Lily became noticeably skilled in potions which caught the attention of her professor Horace Slughorn, whom invited her to become part of the Slug Club. She was one of Slughorn's all-time favourite students and gave him a lily. In her fifth year, she attempted to stop Severus' bullying by James Potter, but Severus became embarrassed and called her a filthy mud-blood . Severus begged for her forgiveness and she in turn asked if he wished to proceed in becoming a Death Eater, something to which he didn't deny. Lily realised he didn't understand the fault with Death Eaters and the two immediately grew apart. By this time James Potter had asked Lily out numerous times, but denied due to thinking he was an arrogant toerag but did not hate him, despite him being a bully. During their seventh year, James proved himself to be responsible and brave. This led to her finally agreeing to go out with him; and Lily's attraction to him grew into genuine affection and eventually love. The young couple were then chosen to be Head Boy and Head Girl.Lily graduated Hogwarts in 1978, and later married James sometime between the summer of 1978 and the autumn of 1979, becoming Lily Potter. Petunia and her husband refused to attend the wedding, and from then on had extremely little contact with her sister. Living off James' family fortune, the Potters became full-time members of the Order of the Phoenix, an organisation dedicated to fighting Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. During the war, they defied Voldemort on at least three occasions, the first being when they refused to join his cause when he tried to recruit them.Lily became pregnant in the autumn of 1979. Meanwhile a prophecy was made stating that the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches . The prophecy was overheard by Snape, who had since become a Death Eater. He reported what he had heard to Voldemort, who came to believe that Lily's son was the subject of the prophecy. The Potters went into hiding while Lily was still pregnant. Their son, Harry James Potter, was born on 31 July 1980 and due to the danger they were in, Lily and James chose to keep Harry's christening a very hurried, quiet affair with Sirius Black as the only guest. The couple also chose Sirius to be Harry's godfather. Lily sent a birth announcement to Petunia; it was to be the last piece of information she ever sent her sister. In a letter to Sirius dated around Harry's first birthday in July 1981, Lily mentioned that the family had a pet cat, and relayed a story about Harry flying on a toy broomstick. The Fidelius Charm was placed on their home in Godric's Hollow. On the 31st of October 1981, while Lily was 21 years old, Voldemort entered their home. James told Lily to take Harry and leave while he held him off. He was killed before Lily and Harry could escape the house, trapping mother and son in Harry's nursery. Voldemort offered Lily a chance to step aside but refusing to stop shielding her son, he murdered her using the killing curse. Because Lily's death was a pure sacrifice, Harry was marked with the protection of her love leaving Voldemort's Killing Curse rebounding off Harry, destroying the Dark Lord's body and temporarily defeating him. If not for Snape's love for Lily, which led to him to beg Voldemort for Lily's life, her death would not have been a willing sacrifice, and there would have been no Boy Who Lived. After Death:In Harry's fourth year, while duelling with Voldemort, they experienced Priori Incantatem. This let Lily's spirit return to the mortal world for a few seconds, allowing her to interact with and save her son from The Dark Lord once again.During the Battle of Hogwarts, when Harry believed himself to be walking to his own death, he used the Resurrection Stone to bring back the spirits of Lily, James, Sirius, and Remus Lupin. His parents told him they were so very proud of him and assured him they they would stay with him until the very end.Harry went on to have a daughter, whom he named Lily Luna Potter, with Lily serving as a namesake for her only granddaughter.
