This ferocious and bloodthirsty werewolf is nearly as feared by the wizarding world as the man he serves, Lord Voldemort. Greyback is ruthless in his approach, but he prefers to keep his victims alive, so that he can create a werewolf army to overthrow the wizards. He doesn't share any other ideas with Voldemort, however the two work together because out of a common goal to overthrow the Ministry of Magic. Greyback is not in Voldemort's inner circle, however, and is considered a low level Death Eater. Greyback has a couple of connections to a few characters in the series, being the werewolf who bit Remus Lupin, and he also mauls Ron Weasley's brother Bill (although this event will probably be left out of the film version of Half Blood Prince). As Snatchers' leader, he captures Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger when Harry accidentally names Voldemort. He carries them to Malfoy Manor. Later, he participates in the Battle of Hogwarts, and presumably mauls Lavender Brown (it is not known if she survives or not). Hermione pushes him away but he is defeated by Professor Sybill Trelawney, who had a very close friendship with Lavender, throwing him a crystal ball in the head. Although it is not known if he died in the Battle or survived and later was arrested. Harry saw him in the forest, being the second option more possible. In the films, British cage fighter Dave Legeno plays the ferocious Greyback. Greyback appears in each of the final two novels of the series, Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows.
