Xenophilius Lovegood is Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch)'s father. Lovegood first appeared in the Deathly Hallows book. He enters the story at the wedding of Fleur Delacour and Bill Weasley, and later when Harry, Ron and Hermione visit his home in their quest for the Deathly Hallows. He directs the heroes to The Tale of the Three Brothers, which explains the origin of the Deathly Hallows: The Elder Wand, which always wins duels for its owner, but has spawned a violent ages-long quest to possess it; the Resurrection Stone, which brings the dead back to the land of the living, however unnaturally; and the Invisibility Cloak, which hides its wearers from all eyes--even Death's. Unfortunately, Lovegood's vocal support of Harry's quest against Voldemort takes a personal toll, and his daughter Luna is held captive under threat of death should he not cooperate. Hoping to win his daughter's freedom, he reports the trio to Snatchers--Death Eaters tasked with capturing Hogwarts truants, Muggle-borns, and any other opponents.
