Mike Newton was one of the first people to greet Bella on her first day at Forks High School. He has a round boyish face and spikey blonde hair. He is immediately enamored with Bella. He walks her to almost all of her classes. Bella felt that he took on the qualities of a golden retriever- he's loyal, friendly, and follows her everywhere. Mike is also in her gym class and chivalrously volunteers to be Bella's partner. He is not happy when Bella starts spending time with Edward, but seeing that he can't compete, backs off a little. He, like the rest of the male population of Forks, can't help but be jealous of Edward.In Twilight Mike throws a beach party at LaPush, which is where Bella meets Jacob Black and first hears stories of The Cold Ones. Mike's parents own a sporting good store where he and Bella work during Eclipse.
