Kate is over 1000 years old, and a part of the 'vegetarian' vampire coven in Denali, Alaska. She and her sisters Tanya and Irina are the daughters of Sasha, who died in the year 1000 during the Plague of the Immortal Children. Sasha had created a child vampire, incapable of judging right and wrong and almost completely impossible to control like most young children. This child was capable of the strength of every vampire though, so it was literally impossible to tame. The Volturi stepped in, destroying each and every immortal child and their creators; this included Sasha and her child. However, neither Tanya, Kate nor Irina knew of the child and so when the Volturi came to destroy them, Aro touched their hands and found they had no knowledge of the child. They were acquitted. Kate has the ability to stun any human or Vampire. a current runs over her skin. it is said that for a vampire to touch her skin is like a human being tasered.
