Emily Young is the fiancee of Sam Uley, the leader of the wolf pack. Her cousin, Leah Clearwater, is Sam's ex-girlfriend.After Sam phased into his wolf form, he imprinted on Emily and broke up with Leah, leaving her extremely bitter. Emily wanted Sam to work things out with Leah, and she even made the mistake of telling Sam that he was like his father by not taking responsibility for what he did. Sam hated his father so much for abandoning him and his family that he phased into his wolf form, and slashed the right side Emily's face down to her arm, leaving her scarred for life. She was taken to the nearest hospital and she said she was attacked by a bear. Sam visited her in the hospital after she called for him. Emily insisted to Sam that it was an accident and she forgave him, but he was too distraught to forgive himself.Emily lives in a house on the reservation and provides clothes and food for Sam's fellow wolves.
