Strong-willed and protective of her son, Carl, Lori survives the undead apocalypse with the help of Shane, best friend of her believed-to-dead husband Rick. Of course, Rick is not dead and Lori is eventually reunited with her husband making her now intimate relationship with Shane a point of tension (to say the least). Even before the walkers first appeared, Lori was having problems in her marriage to Rick, questioning whether he still loved her. As the group of survivors continues on its journey, Lori must choose between trying to recapture her once-loving relationship with Rick and acknowledging the heated love affair she had begun with Shane. Though she backs her husband in his role as de facto leader, she doesnt always agree with his style or decisions most notably when dealing with an increasingly agitated and aggressive Shane.Never in question, however, is Loris dedication to keeping her young son safe. She is constantly trying to shield him from the grisly reality of the new world, both in terms of his physical safety and mental well being. Despite the extreme difficulty of this task, Lori is often self critical, worrying that she is failing Carl, who becomes more hardened each day.
