A successful civil rights attorney who is largely estranged from her family, Andrea makes an attempt to reconnect with her much-younger sister Amy by going on a road trip together when the undead apocalypse breaks out. The sisters are stranded in Atlanta and rescued by Dale eventually joining a group of survivors that includes Rick, Lori, Shane, Carl and others. Andrea is outspoken, fiercely independent and highly capable. Eventually, she begins to train as a sharp shooter under Shanes mentorship and takes an increasingly proactive role in protecting the survivors camps from walkers. All the while, she remains very protective of her younger sister and loyal to Dale, with whom she shares an unspoken, but undeniable father-daughter like bond. Andrea, it seems, now has a strong family. After some time and much tragedy, Andrea finds herself aligned with the Governor in the rebuilt town of Woodbury, a relationship that challenges her independent streak as well as her understanding of right and wrong in a world now largely devoid of moral judgment. Not surprisingly, the people of Woodbury look at her as a leader. She also becomes close friends Michonne, after the mysterious woman rescues her from almost certain death.
