Admiral Ruskov was an admiral in the Russian Navy before the virus spread. His ship was also out sea when the virus spread, and is the last existing ship of the Russia Navy.Ruskov wrote a definitive book on naval warfare, which Cmdr. Chandler read. Ruskov heard about Dr. Rachel Scott's work on the cure, and wanted her to create it for the Russians only so that they could control it and the world. He, on advice from Niels Sorensen, attempted twice to kidnap Dr. Scott and her work.Ruskov first encountered the Nathan James off the coast of Cuba, after the ship had restocked and refueled at Guantanomo Bay. They distracted the Nathan James by pretending to be a friendly British ship and placed mines around the NJ so it couldn't escape. Ruskov then demanded Dr. Scott & her samples in exchange for being let go. The NJ sent a team to the Russian ship with a sample of the Primordial strain, but Ruskov refused it as he wanted Scott and all of her work. Dr. Quincy Tophet confessed to the NJ leadership and Dr. Scott that Ruskov had kidnapped his wife and child in order to coerce him to keep the Russians apprised of the NJ's progress at sea and with the cure.The NJ managed to escape the Russians without giving up Dr. Scott, by navigating through a coral reef without radar.Ruskov and his crew found the NJ again when they went to rescue Bertrise from a Jamaican ship that had everyone but Bertrise died from the virus. He took Chandler and Tex hostage after their RIB was destroyed during the rescue and they were swimming for safety. Ruskov offered the two men in exchange for Dr. Scott and her work. The NJ sent Dr. Scott and the samples aboard while the rescue team followed. Ruskov and his crew were defeated by the NJ rescue team and they all escaped with Chandler, Tex, Dr. Scott, and Dr. Tophet's family. Ruskov and his crew were killed when bombs placed around the ship by Cossetti on the rescue team exploded and sank the ship.Though he and his crew were eventually defeated for good by the Nathan James, he always held respect for Chandler as a worthy adversary with each defeat.
