Arrow is based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, a costumed crime-fighter. Season 1 premiered on The CW on October 10, 2012. The series focus on Oliver Queen, billionaire playboy, who spends 5 years shipwrecked on a mysterious island. Showing all facets of the mysterious loner, this realistic drama follows the charismatic but shallow Oliver that disappeared, the hardened Oliver that returned and the Oliver that has been forged into the weapon against injustice known as... 'the Arrow'.
So 'Dead to Rights' is not perfect - some characters end up sidelined and the flashback scenes feel a little perfunctory - but it remains one of this show's very best episodes to date.
Like the series itself, 'Dead to Rights' is far from perfect, but it does manage to highlight many of the things that Arrow does well, without getting too soapy about things.
From big revelations to an attempted assassination and even some not-so-cheesy heartfelt moments, "Dead to Rights" had just the right balance of action and emotion.
The exciting 30-odd minutes sandwiched between this week's abrupt bookends make the argument that Arrow's split personalities can both be equally strong, so long as they keep their distance from one another.
