Arrow is based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, a costumed crime-fighter. Season 1 premiered on The CW on October 10, 2012. The series focus on Oliver Queen, billionaire playboy, who spends 5 years shipwrecked on a mysterious island. Showing all facets of the mysterious loner, this realistic drama follows the charismatic but shallow Oliver that disappeared, the hardened Oliver that returned and the Oliver that has been forged into the weapon against injustice known as... 'the Arrow'.
As we approach the conclusion of the show's first season, each episode is growing increasingly epic and here we're treated to enough twists and turns to fill three episodes.
While "The Undertaking" doesn't really make good on what's implied by the title, the bigger surprise is that it still manages to be one of Arrow's best episodes to date.
No flashbacks to Wig Island this week. Instead we're treated to some much needed backstory on Robert Queen's involvement with Malcolm Merlyn and the Starling City cabal targeted by The List.
The action sequences of the episode remain uniquely thrilling, particular standouts being the casino battle and Oliver's rescue of Walter...but amount to relatively little without the time to build tension.
