Shortly after the series begins, Tara becomes Jax Teller's girlfriend and their relationship progresses throughout the series. Tara does not seem like the typical biker's old lady. She is a pediatric surgeon who grew up in Charming and dated Jax in high school didn't plan on coming back. Her departure broke Jax's heart; he never got over her. Their relationship and her acceptance of the club and its violent ways is cemented after he helps defend her from an unstable former boyfriend who follows her to Charming. She surprises herself often as she compromises her morals, pushes her own boundaries of right and wrong and increasingly feels more comfortable in the SAMCRO world.She clashes early with Gemma Teller, Jax's sometimes venomous, meddling mother.She has a complex relationship with Margaret, the administrator at her hospital, who is clearly pained to see someone so bright and talented as Tara mixed up with what she views as bad people.Tara is drawn to the loyalty found within the club, and understands how much it means to Jax, but cannot handle the secrecy. She knows she must appear to be a supportive old lady but Jax often keeps her apprised of club business to the benefit of their relationship.Background: Pediatric resident at St. Thomas Hospital in Charming. Her mother died when she was nine years old and her father was an alcoholic who died more recently. Has a crow tattoo on her lower back (for SAMCRO) that she got in high school when she was dating Jax. She left Charming when she was 19 to study at UC San Diego. She attended Loyola Medical school in Chicago and was in the top of her class. Did her internship at Chicago Presbyterian, where she dated an ATF agent and became pregnant, but ended the pregnancy. The souring of her relationship with Josh Kohn was part of the reason she returned to Charming after her 11 year absence. Show less «
