Nero Padilla is a gentleman pimp, or companionator, as he calls himself, who owns a high class escort agency. He's the former leader of a Latino gang who eschews violence and has personal motivation for getting out of the gang life. He has a long range retirement plan for his future and tries to avoid acting on impulses that would get in the way of that plan.He is introduced to the club in season five after an interesting meeting with Gemma. He and Jax quickly discover they have a shared outlook on life and business and find ways to assist each other's interests that are mutually beneficial, but Jax does not approve of Nero having anything to do with his mother. Because of Nero's interest in Gemma, Clay Morrow, her husband, is not surprisingly not a fan of his either.Nero is a sensitive soul who cares deeply about the people around him and tries to treat the women in his employ well. He runs his business with his longtime associate Carla, who is not entirely stable and often inserts herself in Nero's personal life.
