Weatherby Swann is a governor under the authority of the royal family and is stationed in Port Royal. Virtually nothing is known of his early life. He was married at a time and had a daughter, Elizabeth (who later became pirate king), though his wife died shortly after. He was a very prominent and respectable man and had expressed his belief that English morals, traditions, and standards should always be followed. He was appalled by the very nature of piracy, and was hired by the king to execute any pirate within the Port Royal region. However, sometime after Lord Cutler Beckett came into power, he murdered Swann, claiming that his usefullness had run its course. (Beckett most likely did this because Swann was in the king's favor and could report of the crimes Beckett had comitted.) Weatherby Swann is last seen by his daughter (and the crew of the Black Pearl) as he passes on into the next world, while the crew is returning from rescuing Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones' Locker.(Weatherby Swann is a fictional character portrayed by Jonathan Pryce in the Disney films, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl , Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest , and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End .)
