Ensign Mendon was a Benzite who participated in the officer exchange program with Starfleet prior to his race joining the Federation. Like all Benzites prior to the 2370s, Mendon had to wear a breathing device. Wesley Crusher confused him for his friend Mordock, but Mendon merely looked identical due to all Benzites looking pretty much the same.He tried to suggest ways to improve the Enterprise, to a apathetic raction from Picard. When he discovered a threat to both the Enterprise and the IKS Pagh, the Klingon ship that Riker served on, he did not report it, as Benzite rules say they must find a solution to a problem before reporting it. Picard was angry at this, and Mendon became despondent. Wesley Crusher convinced him to find a solution to the problem, which he did, saving both ships.Mendon was a Sciences division Ensign.
