Doctor Beverly Crusher is the chief medical officer aboard the USS Enterprise-D. She is outspoken and determined and always puts the health and safety of her patients first, even when it comes into conflict with the Prime Directive. She is frequently called upon to solve medical mysteries in a crisis and does so using her keen powers of observation and thorough understanding of medicine and science. Her best friend is the ship's half-human, half-Betazoid counselor, Deanna Troi.Crusher has a complex relationship with Captain Jean-Luc Picard based on their history involving her husband's death and their romantic feelings for each other. Picard was good friends with the late Jack Crusher and generally thinks acting on his feelings for Jack's widow would be a betrayal of his memory.Crusher serves with her precocious genius son, Wesley, whom she constantly encourages to try to be a normal teenager, even though he's obviously not. Background: Crusher was born Beverly Howard in Copernicus City on Earth's moon on October 13, 2324. Her parents were killed when she was young and she was raised by her grandmother, Felisa Howard, whose genealogy traces back to the English Dukes of Norfolk. Crusher's interest in medicine was spurred by her grandmother's use of natural remedies following a disaster at the Arvada III colony.Crusher graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2350 and while there met Jack Crusher, whom she married in 2348. Their son, Wesley, was born that year.Jack Crusher served aboard the USS Stargazer under Jean-Luc Picard, with Beverly aboard at least some of that time, but Jack was tragically killed on an away mission in 2354.Crusher has a strong interest in theater and wrote and directed many plays while aboard the Enterprise-D, usually roping crew members into performing. She's also an accomplished jazz and tap dancer. Show less «
