Natasha Tasha Yar is the security chief aboard the USS Enterprise-D. She often goes on away missions to investigate or protect other crew. She is brave, stoic and guarded, because of her bad childhood.Background: Tasha was born on the failed colony world of Turkana IV and had a sister, Ishara, who was five years younger. The planet suffered a severe economic collapse and as a result chaos and anarchy reigned. There were warring factions, rape gangs, looters and general mayhem. While Tasha escaped, her sister didn't, and subsequently became part of the Cadre of one of the warring factions.Their parents were killed when the girls were very young and Tasha was forced to look after them both. She later left the planet when she was 15, but never saw her sister again.She had a problem with drugs in her past.In 2363, she impressed Jean-Luc Picard on a rescue mission and he recruited her for the Enterprise. She considers him a father figure.While under the influence of an intoxicant, Tasha reveals an attraction to the android Data and questions whether he is fully functional.
