One year after giving birth to Benjamin, Sarah left the family and Benjamin grew up believing his father's second wife was his biological mother. He has a half-sister Judith and at least two brothers.His father, Joseph, owned a restaurant called Sisko's, and taught his children how to cook instead of using a replicator.Sisko joined Starfleet Academy in 2350 and studied to be an engineer and met his mentor, Curzon Dax, whom he meets again on DS9 in a new host body, Jadzia Dax. He graduated in 2354 and met a woman named Jennifer, whom he later married. Their son Jake was born in 2355, but his wife was later killed in the Borg attack, Battle of Wolf 359, which was led by Starfleet Captain Jean-Luc Picard when he had been assimilated. Prior to DS9, Sisko served on the USS Livingstone and the USS Okinawa. It was aboard the latter were Captain, later Admiral, Leyton, took an interest in Sisko and urged him to consider command.He is a baseball fan.
