A licensed asteroid locator and prospector and a less than scrupulous space trader dealing in goods across the quadrant, Cyrano dealt in what he deemed to be Rare and Valuable Merchandise . Some of this merchandise included Spican Flame Gems, Antarean Glow Water, and most infamously Tribbles. Having noticed Tribbles pleasing effect on the members of most humanoid species, Jones took some of the particularly prolific species from their home world and proceeded to sell them as pets. Outside of their natural habitat and their natural predators, the Tribbles remarkably rapid reproductive tendencies were left unchecked. They grew in numbers until they had all but taken over the entirety of station K-7. Unfortunately Jones' ill timed arrival with the Tribbles nearly caused a Klingon/Human war, due to the fact that very important grain seeds (meant to decide the fate of an important strategically located planet) were stored on the station. The Tribbles found their way into the storage compartments (storage compartments) and gorged themselves on the grain. However, because all of the Tribbles in the compartments died, it was revealed that the grain had been poised by a Klingon agent and millions of lives on the planet were saved. As the penalty for his actions, Captain Kirk sentenced Cyrano Jones to spend as many years as it took to pick up every Tribble on the Station and transport them elsewhere.
