No.6 was kidnapped from his flat in London just after he resigned his post, and he woke up in a mysterious Village. We gather that he is a former spy, but we do not know his name nor do we know exactly which side he was on. His captors want to know why he resigned, but he won't tell them - by hook or by crook. Rumour has been over the years that No.6 was Secret Agent (Man) John Drake (aka Danger Man), but while the two were both played by Patrick McGoohan it is not for certain that they are one in the same. The new world of No.6 in The Prisoner is surreal and Kafkaesque, not the world of a cold war spy like John Drake. It is not yet known if the in the new version of The Prisoner (coming to AMC in 2009) whether No.6 will have the same origins - or maybe it is known, but that would be telling. Be seeing you.
