Claire Littleton is very pregnant when Oceanic Flight 815 crashes and she is among the survivors. Claire was raised in Sydney by a single mother, Carole, who told her that her father had died. Claire worked several odd jobs, including as a fast-food worker and a tattoo and piercing artist. She conceived her baby with an artist named Thomas and was convinced by a psychic to give her baby up for adoption to a couple in Los Angeles, where she was headed when the plane crashed.On the island, most of the other survivors initially avoid Claire and she figures it's because no one wants to deal with the very pregnant woman. Jack checks on her status regularly and Charlie soon befriends her, checking on her regularly and taking care of her as needed. After a particularly harrowing experience, Claire gives birth to her baby Aaron and Charlie continues to care for her and the baby. Kate also becomes very protective of Claire and the baby.Claire is a brave woman who, despite her condition, puts herself in some dangerous situations to help protect the other survivors. She worries she can't care for the baby herself, but gets much help and support from everyone around her.
