Riverdale - Season 2 Episode 16: Chapter Twenty-Nine: Primary Colors
While the status quo will be restored soon enough, there's much dramatic potential that can be mined from Archie/Veronica and Betty/Jughead being on opposite sides.
Exhausting. Archie and Jughead are at odds. Betty and Veronica are at odds. The Lodges and Andrews.Cheryl and her family. For some reason, that needs to be portrayed by everyone running for some sort of political office? I'm not a big fan of this plan.
This feels more like a surreal Bravo-CW crossover dream I'd have after eating dark-chocolate Flipz too close to bedtime than an actual scene of television, which I mean as a sincere compliment.
"Primary Colors" features a lot of the same problems this second half of Riverdale's sophomore season (and the season as a whole) has been playing with, but it finally feels like it's telling a compelling story with these bootleg chess pieces.
I just have so many doubts, and this is all coming from a die hard fan of the show. I expect this kind of tonal disconnect from a show like American Horror Story, but not my beloved Riverdale!
