Medical school fresh graduate Zoe Hart, who aspires to be like her father and become a cardio-thoracic surgeon, takes up an offer from a stranger, Dr. Harley Wilkes, to work in his medical practice in Bluebell, Alabama. She arrives to find he has died and he bequeathed his practice to her.
So we've got a medical drama, a small-town soap opera, a romantic comedy with two attractive and capable leads, plus bits and pieces of all those Reese Witherspoon movies. There just might be enough here to fly.
Perhaps with more attention to concrete character details and less reliance on silly stereotypes, Hart of Dixie will manage to grow into a show that does not provoke multiple fits of eye rolling
Fans don't tune in for the acting, they tune in for the story, the characters and the romance. And in that, Hart of Dixie is right in The CW's wheelhouse.
