The (bigger) villain of Season 3, Gyp Rosetti aims to come off as a tough, ruthless gangster -- which he does. He and Nucky get off on the wrong foot upon Gyp's arrival in Atlantic City. Highly insecure and easily offended -- to what would be comic levels, but often turn incredibly violent -- Gyp doesn't take kindly to Nucky's lavish form of living and feels Nucky is too dismissive of him. What develops is an intense rivalry in which Gyp attempts to cut off Nucky's organization's path to New York and leaves many dead bodies.Gyp sets up just north of Atlantic City and immediately takes over the small roadside town of Tabor Heights and gets law enforcement in his pocket and has the rest of the town generally afraid of him. The town is on a critical stretch of road that connects Atlantic City to New York.Despite his gruff and arrogant presence around other men, Gyp is reduced to a groveling boy when surrounded by the domineering women in his family. He's bullied by them at the dinner table and seems to take this twisted relationship with the opposite sex into the bedroom, where he engages in intense masochistic acts with prostitutes.
