Nucky's steadfast, German-born manservant, chauffeur and bodyguard, Eddie is staunchly loyal to his boss, keeps quiet when he knows he should and is handy with a revolver when needed to defend Nucky's life. Eddie, however, seems clueless in certain situations -- particularly his boss' amorous exploits -- and Nucky often grows impatient with his ineptitude when it comes to mundane tasks such as introducing guests. Eddie's very thick German accent and the fact that English is his second language often results in comical misunderstandings, but there is no doubt that Nucky reciprocates Eddie's devotion and that they share a deep and long-held friendship.
