After working with Vic in other areas of the LAPD, Shane moved to Farmington to work with Vic on the newly formed, Strike Team. Shane is a Farmington detective who has been heavily involved in the dealings of Vic Mackey's crew since its formation. His racist, reckless attitude often gets him in trouble, after which Vic typically bails him out. When Terry Crowley -- an undercover informant sent out from the Justice Department to expose corruption in the Strike Team -- was murdered by Vic, Shane was the only witness. The other two members of the Strike Team were oblivious of the fact that it was Vic who murdered Terry.Shane was clearly distressed about what he and Vic had done. This was most evident at Terry's funeral, where Shane was visibly shaken by seeing Terry's mother. As time passed, he was seemingly able to move past it, and accepted the murder as being something that was necessary.Shane was typically loudmouthed, macho and promiscuous, in one instance he shamelessly tried to have sex with a murder victim's widow, who was seeking an emotional release for her grief.Shane eventually meets a woman named Mara, to whom he opend up about the situations he's been involved in. Shane and Vic have a rocky relationship but ultimately need one another. Nonetheless, Shane often tries to strike out on his own and engages in morally and ethically -- never mind, legally -- questionable behavior, including working with a gang leader and executing a particularly problematic killing of his own.
