David Aceveda is a smart, tough law enforcement officer, but is also a climber who has ambitions that are beyond the LAPD. He was the original captain at The Barn. Not much is known about his early years in police work, but he was a patrol officer who rose through the ranks quickly. His desire to keep rising compels him to occasionally cut corners or cover up undesirable activities or developments that happened on his watch and could make him look bad in the future.Aceveda has a strong dislike and distrust of Vic Mackey and makes several attempts to get rid of Mackey -- after having already fought against Mackey's assignment to the Strike Team. Aceveda's efforts generally go badly -- or worse. When necessary to save their jobs, though, the two become uneasy allies. Regardless of their occasional need to support each other, Aceveda and Mackey clearly don't like one another, and Aceveda desperately wants to see Mackey behind bars.After a particularly harrowing incident, Aceveda demonstrated he was capable of ethically and morally questionable behavior of his own despite his clean-cut exterior.
