Curtis Lem Lemansky is the first cop on the Strike Team to rescue anyone in distress, once risking his life to pull a man from a burning van full of illegal ammunition. He often winces in discomfort when Vic Mackey crosses the line in an interrogation. Lemonhead, or Lem, for short, is both the muscle and the conscience of the rule-breaking Strike Team. Lem only uses force when necessary, but does so with ease and regret. He can fight off three men believably and hurl gangsters across the room, usually with a few choice words.Lem sees the Strike Team as his family, but he calls Vic boss. Although he defers to Vic on an emotional level, Lem does not have the same father-son/little brother conflict Shane does. Lem wants to keep the Strike Team family together because he does not have a family of his own. He does not have any desire to change the power structure.Lem is a reluctant accomplice to some of the Strike Team's actions, during one pivotal incident he even asked, Can't we just do what we're supposed to do, then stop? Early in the series, Lem is the character who took the cross down from the wall and carried it out of the church as it turned into the police station, possibly symbolizing him carrying the sins of the team later without sharing his pain.
