CURZON, the sixth official host of the Trill symbiont Dax, lived nearly 100 years and had a long history with Starfleet. He took over from the insane irregular host, Joran Dax.He served as mentor to a young cadet named Benjamin Lafayette Sisko. He also attended the negotiations of the first Grand Alliance between the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire. He cut quite a swath through Klingon society. He combined the diplomatic acumen of John Adams with the zest for life--and the way with the ladies--of Benjamin Franklin. Curzon Dax thus built a reputation that would live long after he died and passed the symbiont on.In this context he met and became fast friends with three remarkable Klingon captains. Their names were Kor, Koloth, and Kang. All had encountered the celebrated Captain James T. Kirk, commander of USS Enterprise NCC-1701, at one juncture or another. So perhaps it was only fitting that these three should handle the negotiations.Unfortunately, a vicious terrorist known only as The Albino murdered Kang's son. This hit all three Klingons hard. It also hit Curzon Dax--for he had stood godfather to the boy. And so the four swore a blood oath that they would someday hunt The Albino down and kill him.Curzon did not live to fulfill that oath. But Jadzia, his successor as host to Dax, would. That Jadzia inherited the Dax symbiont from Curzon was ironical in the extreme. For Jadzia came to Curzon for her initiation test. Curzon flunked her. But Jadzia, not willing to give up being a Joined Trill, reapplied to the program and won acceptance. The succession of Jadzia to Curzon proved ironic for another reason: Curzon fell in love with Jadzia. This fact came out in Jadzia's Zhian'tari ritual. Curzon almost permanently commandeered the body of Constable Odo to try to continue his relationship with Jadzia. But Jadzia would not permit this.Perhaps Curzon would have been pleased to know that Jadzia helped take down The Albino, in fulfillment of the Blood Oath, and acquitted herself better than any of the Klingon warriors would have given her credit for.
