Riverdale - Season 1 Episode 02: Chapter Two: A Touch of Evil
The twisty new series uses teen drama clichés to its advantage. It gives a subversive take on Archie and his friends, exploring small town life, the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale's wholesome facade.
It's Jughead's late-night confrontation at Archie's house that we learn the most important thing about this pair: Despite their drama, there's a deep trust between these two, and it transcends this momentary halt in their friendship.
The second episode of Riverdale, mostly occupied with the aftermath of the pilot, has a tendency to drag, but at least the eye-candy shop is still open.
While the Archie/Grundy/Jughead stuff formed the emotional core of this installment, equally noteworthy is the continuing evolution of the friendship between Betty and Veronica.
