Season 2 picks up immediately after the season one finale. It begins with Chuck facing scrutiny within his office and from the Attorney General. Meanwhile, Axe refortifies Axe Capital and weighs his options for retaliation.
A superb start to season 2 thanks to excellent performances from Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti, along with a compelling new status quo, ensures that Billions remains one of the best shows on television today.
There are three new characters who help energize Season 2; one who helps out Axe, one who is a real splinter in Chuck's bottom and another who is just plain fun.
Billions hasn't abandoned any of the various subtexts that make it so absorbing; in fact, the decreased furor means it brings more attention to those themes.
Still I'll watch, mesmerized by the question of how far this show will go, and how overcooked the acting will be, and how silly the sexual subplots will get. How bad will it be this season? I can't wait to find out.
