Highlighted that there's still life left in John Diggle. A refreshing look into the veteran character's backstory that, coupled with an enjoyable turn from Ghostbusters legend Ernie Hudson, made for a great episode.
Arrow Season 7 is rapidly heating up before the big finale. This episode is satisfyingly packed with new twists and turns, along with a healthy dose of Diggle family drama.
Ernie Hudson as General Stewart is a beautiful addition to "Spartan," playing the initially tough, but eventually understanding four-star General/stepfather very well.
The most compelling aspects of this episode is the chemistry between Hudson and David Ramsey (John Diggle), and the fun, loose, mission-of-the-week feel.
Fans have been making edits of John Diggle as the Green Lantern since Arrow's first season. To see such a thing come into play as the series comes to a close brings an incredible amount of joy.
After enduring such horrendous treatment, it was high time that Diggle get an episode like "Spartan" to remind us why we all fell in love with the former soldier in the first place.
The Diggle-centric episode, which was written by Benjamin Raab and Deric A. Hughes, delivers on the emotional material, thanks to David Ramsey and guest-star Ernie Hudson's great performances.
