Set at ISIS (International Secret Intelligence Service), the series revolve around suave master spy Sterling Archer as he deals with global espionage; a domineering, late middle-aged mother/boss, Malory Archer; his ex-girlfriend, Agent Lana Kane; ISIS accountant Cyril Figgis; and a less-than-masculine code name—'Duchess'.
[Rebooting] gives the series new life. Not that it was floundering at all, but there was a certain circuitousness to the plotlines that Archer Vice not only interrupts, but short-circuits completely.
Everything that makes the show great continues to hum along at full force-namely, its characters and the way any member of Archer's ensemble can bounce off of any other member with glorious ease.
Archer is defiantly silly but it is so in a way that people could easily underestimate. In other words, it takes smart people to write characters this gloriously dumb.
Archer's affection for character and craft makes it more likely to be remembered as one of the great TV shows of our time, and not just another dirty cartoon.
Packed with its usual share of action and comedy, Archer's refresh injects some welcome energy into the adrenaline-fueled animated series as it continues to be one of the funniest shows on TV.
