Gonzo is a character on The Muppet Show . Also known as The Great Gonzo or Gonzo the Great , he is an odd looking creature with blue fur, bulgy bug-like eyes, and a long, crooked nose like a beak. He is a daredevil performance artist and stuntman. In other words, nothing excites him more than performing dangerous, life-threatening feats. His motto is anything worth doing is worth doing without a parachute .Gonzo has revealed that he used to live in a cement mixer. Later he met Camilla the chicken, who became his girlfriend, and the two of them worked together as traveling plumbers. They met up with Kermit and Fozzie one day when, so as to avoid crashing into them, Gonzo did some fancy stunt work and caused his plumbing truck to flip over on top of Fozzie's studebaker. They decided to join the team to Hollywood and have been with the Muppets ever since. From the very beginning, no one was sure just exactly what Gonzo was. Kermit thought he looked a bit like a turkey, but not much. For a while, Gonzo referred to himself (and was labeled) as a whatever . Finally, in 1999, Gonzo learned from two 'cosmic fish' that he is actually an alien from outer space. His family, including the Ubergonzo , even came to visit at the Cape Doom beach.Gonzo is best friends with Rizzo the Rat. The two of them have been roommates and have worked together in several productions, beginning with The Muppet Christmas Carol . Gonzo was Charles Dickens, narrating the story, and Rizzo played himself, walking with Dickens through the story. After that, they hosted Muppet Classic Theater and acted as Jim Hawkins' best friends in Muppet Treasure Island . Rizzo stuck with Gonzo for most of Muppets From Space as well.Gonzo has also appeared as the Tin Man (or, in his case, Tin Thing) in The Muppets' Wizard Of Oz .
