Martha Jones is the cousin of Adeola Oshodi (also played by Freema Agyeman, from the Doctor Who [series 2] episode, Army Of Ghosts .)When [Newly-Elected] Prime Minister Harold Saxon was revealed to be a renegade Time Lord, known as The Master (and captured Martha, her family, The Doctor, and Captain Jack Harkness), The Doctor gave Martha a secret mission. Martha escaped, and traveled the world: telling everyone she encountered about the sacrifices of the man, known as The Doctor. With The Master defeated , Martha made the decision to put her family, first, and left The Doctor... but, not forever. Martha's expertise was later required at Torchwood (in the [series 2] episode, Reset ), where she becomes fast friends with the Torchwood team, especially Owen, whom she impresses with both her confidence and professionalism.Martha was later approached by an organization, called the UNified Intelligence Taskforce (a.k.a.: UNIT ), a para-military organization, parallel to Torchwood. When suspicious deaths cropped-up, in Atmos -controlled vehicles, Martha called in The Doctor. During the Atmos investigation, Martha was abducted -- and cloned -- by the warrior-race, the Sontarrans. After the defeat of the Sontarrans, Martha (along with The Doctor and Donna Noble), find themselves, accidentally, hurled through time, by the TARDIS, onto a barren, inhospitable world. There, they find countless Generations (of Humans and Hath) locked in a deadly power struggle. When the Daleks steal the Earth for their own diabolical purposes, Martha is given the bitter task of activating the Osterhagen Key (a series of nuclear warheads placed in strategic locations, throughout the Earth, as a last-line of defense , should the suffering of the human race become too unbearable. )Background: Martha trained to be a Doctor at the Royal Hope Hospital, before meeting the Doctor (in the [series 3] episode Smith and Jones .) In her travels, with the Doctor, Martha met notable figures, like William Shakespeare. With the Daleks and their creator, Davros, defeated (courtesy of The Doctor-Donna ), Martha Jones went back to her life. Martha later becomes Martha Jones-Smith, by marrying Mickey Smith, ex boyfriend of Rose, and also a former companion of the Doctor. [see Special Episode: The End of Time Part Two]
