The Ood are a race of telepathic humanoids with a hive mind, led by the Ood Brain. The color of their eyes change along with the level of telepathic activity. The standard red eyes were misinterpreted by humans as signifying the red eye disease. They have tentacles on their faces and long lifespans. They have two brains: a forebreain in the head that stores the telepathic sensor and does most of the thinking; and a hindbrain often held in the hands, which connected by an umbilical cord-like structure to their faces. The hindbrain processes memory and emotions and can be removed, leading to mental instability. In the 39th century they were enslaved by humans who were able to control them after severing their connection to the Ood Brain. By the 42nd century, every human had an Ood servant. A group called Friends of Ood agitates for their freedom. Show less «
