Mace Tyrell is the current Lord of the Reach, one of the seven constituent kingdoms of Westeros. He is the father of Margaery and Loras Tyrell, future Queen of Westeros (fiance of Joffrey) and Knight of the Flowers, respectively. He is also the son of the cunning and manipulative Olena Tyrell, styled the Queen of Thorns, who generally regards him as an oaf.Mace fancies himself as one of the great Lords and Field Commanders of the realm although his only real battle honour is overseeing the siege of Storm's End where he reportedly did his best work from the banquet tent. The Reach is the second richest Kingdom in Westeros and their current pact with the Westerlands (Lannister), the richest, has tipped the balance of power in their favour. Their hunger for power and inclination towards Lannister-esque backroom politics threatens to fracture the great western alliance.
