While Finn was growing up, she had a few failed relationships. One day during Finn's sophomore year of high school she met auto mechanic, Burt Hummel, Burt already had one son, Kurt. Kurt and Finn were already friends from the Glee club. A short while later, Burt and Carol married and their sons became step-brothers. Sadly two years later, Carol lost her only son, Finn.
