Ernest Dancy was born in Brooklyn, New York to parents Ernest and Sheila Dancy in 1981. He grew up in two different neighborhoods in Brooklyn. They were the Redhook projects and Bedford-Stuyvesant. As a youth Ernest didn't have any aspirations to be an actor. He wanted to be an NBA basketball player. He attended Brooklyn Technical High School where he played varsity basketball for his last three years. During his senior year he averaged 24 points per game and went on to receive many accolades and also earned a full athletic scholarship to State University of New York - Binghamton (SUNY) in upstate New York. After completing his freshman year there, he transferred to Sullivan County Community College in Loch Sheldrake, New York because he felt he wasn't playing enough. After competing at the junior college level he earned an Associates in Liberal Arts and transferred yet again to State University of New York-Farmingdale in Long Island, New York. He became disenchanted with the sport so he didn't participate, he was a regular student for a semester. The next semester he decided to give basketball one last try, so he moved back home to Brooklyn, and transferred to Long Island University (Brooklyn Campus). He was asked to join the basketball team after the coach saw him playing in a pick up game. Ernest played Division 1 basketball there for a year and a half before coming to the realization that he wasn't going to make it to the NBA. After deciding that basketball wouldn't make him any money he quit the team and began looking for modeling jobs to make some money while finishing up his studies. While searching, he came across an audition for a feature film called Goodnite Charlie (2005). He got the part, and from then on Ernest Dancy the actor was born. After completing that feature, and getting turned down at numerous auditions for other films, he and his soon to be partner Shaan Davis made their own feature film called "Knuckle Game" which he wrote, directed, produced, and starred in. While in production, Ernest earned his Bachelors degree in Business Management from Long Island University. Show less «
