This series focuses on the NYPD's Major Case Squad, a force of detectives who investigate high-profile cases, whilst also showing parts of the crime from the criminal's point of view to the audience.
D'Onofrio is fantastic, but you could sense him getting a little tired of this character and show over the years and it seems right to inject some new life... Goldblum fits in well on CI.
Goldblum's irrepressibility, the sheer volume and variety of his performance, makes him one of the most interesting things to show up on Criminal Intent in years.
[Jeff Goldblum]'s a good fit, a stealth oddball among the sensible department regulars... The show is such a dependable machine; it helps to have a few loose gears sending out unexpected sparks.
Together, Goldblum and Nicholson are my favorite of the current Law & Order teams. The shows' plots? Eh -- by now we know the ripped-from-the-headlines formula; it's the acting we zero in on.
In short, he's exactly what you thought you were getting from the casting of Jeff Goldblum. We look forward to catching his episodes in a holiday marathon in the years to come.
Goldblum makes more sense as D'Onofrio's potential replacement, not his co-lead... Maybe replacing Goren's opposite number with a kind of long-lost identical cousin will make the series more dependable than it's been.
