Season 2 opens with Claire returning to her own time and reconciling her future with the life she left behind. Shifting back to the 18th century, Jamie, Claire and Murtagh arrive in France, but learn that Paris presents its own challenges.
Jamie and Claire: It's a good thing they're soulmates, because their bodies are rarely together, but that's a problem for later. There's a lot to catch up on.
I hope you watched with the captions off so that the surprise wasn't ruined for you. Because watching Lotte Verbeek rise out of that bath of red corn syrup goats blood was a hell of an experience.
The party does a surprising amount of story work. But this is clearly an episode that has to cycle through a lot, and the two major events outside the party throw the tone off.
Something tells us this isn't the last we've seen of Mr. Willoughby and Margaret, and to be honest we hope that's a through-line that continues into the finale.
