How to Get Away With Murder - Season 1 Episode 04: Let's Get to Scooping
Annalise is a high-profile defense attorney, teaching a class at Middleton University. She selects a group of her best students to work at her firm. They are Connor Walsh, Michaela Pratt, Asher Millstone, Laurel Castillo and Wes Gibbins. Little do they know that they will have to apply what they learned to real life, in this masterful, sexy, suspense-driven legal thriller. Annalise lives with her husband, Sam Keating, but she also has a secret relationship with Nate Lahey, a local Philadelphia detective. How to Get Away with Murder follows the personal and professional life of Annalise Keating.
In one of my favorite moments on an ABC drama to date (and one reason why I am giving this episode an overall positive review, despite its kinks) we see Viola Davis stripped of her power, confidence, and glamour.
For all its shocks, I think the episode marked a nice step forward with both of the major cases, plus it showed off the best case-of-the-week we've seen so far, perhaps because of its very direct implications for Connor.
This show literally deals with life or death situations, which should make us feel something. I mean, an unexpected suicide happens in this episode and I hardly flinched.
On How to Get Away with Murder Season 1 Episode 4, we got a little bit closer to finding out what is going on with #1 shadeball Sam and we got perhaps one of the rawest scenes I've seen on television lately.
