Growing up in the interlocking small Central Pennsylvania towns of Tower City and Williamstown, Lamar was attracted to the arts from a young age and appeared in numerous high school plays. He began writing screenplays while attending Penn State but, despite being optioned a few times in the early '00's, found getting a production before the cameras to be an elusive goal. After losing 90 pounds a few years later, Lamar rediscovered the itch to perform and returned to the stage in a Hershey, PA production of Harvey. The lead role of Jack Worthing in The Importance of Being Earnest followed and cemented his interest in pursuing an acting career. In 2011, he was cast in his first film: originally selected for a background role in Easy Hustle (2012), Lamar took the part of lovable nerd Chuck when another actor dropped out. Roles in other Central PA-based indies followed along with background work in larger productions, most notably a front-row seat in the White House Press Corps in the third season of "House of Cards". In 2017, one of his screenplays finally got the green light when his adaptation of Ron James' autobiography Choices (2018) was filmed in Huntington, West Virginia with Lamar playing the role of Steve Sands.
