This series focus on hip hop music and entertainment company, Empire Entertainment, and the drama about a family dynasty that follows the head of a music empire whose three sons and ex-wife all battle for his throne. A music mogul plans for the future of his empire after learning he has a disease in the series premiere of this drama, which follows his struggle to choose an heir as his three sons and his ex-wife battle each other to take over the hip-hop throne.
"Dangerous Bonds" points the show in the right direction. A strong follow-up to last week's also surprisingly good episode, "Bonds"... shows each member of the Lyon family following separate paths.
I know they have iTunes downloads to sell as their big promotional tie-in, and they have a dozen or more episodes yet to unleash on us, but Empire is dragging its feet.
Empire doesn't need another crime subplot... But Cookie's a lot more interesting than Lucious, so this twist opens up a lot more possibilities for the show.
Has this show stumbled at all yet? Empire Season 1 Episode 5 was another solid installment full of catchy music, further character development and another celebrity cameo, this one of the Anthony Hamilton variety.
