The series revolves around Henry Deaver, a man who functions as a legal counselor for the individuals who have a capital punishment. One day, Deaver gets a call from obscure individual forces him to come back to the place where he grew up in Castle Rock, specific in a prison named Shawshank State Penitentiary. There, his dull past starts to show up and he needs to confront it.
The music in Castle Rock - courtesy of composer Chris Westlake - has been nothing short of exemplary throughout the entire series, but in "The Queen" is practically becomes a character unto itself.
We needed The Queen. It's a reminder of what makes television a viable and extraordinary storytelling platform. It also shows that creators Sam Shaw, Dustin Thomason don't need King's direction to stand out.
After half a season of Easter eggs, slow pacing, and pure mood, [Castle Rock] delivered not only the best episode of the series, but one of the best episodes of television in 2018.
Television doesn't get much more heartbreaking than "The Queen," a showcase for the legendary Sissy Spacek and one of the best hours of television this year.
