American Horror Story - Season 6 Episode 10: Chapter 10
A horror drama film of a celebrity producer Ryan Murphy - a former creator of Glee returns for its sixth season. Both physical and psychological horrors affect staff and clients at a frightened colony, focusing on the themes of infidelity, sanity, obsession, haunting and addiction. In this part, Jessica Lange can not come back and cast crew including Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe will be back with the stories related the prior seasons.
There were hints of a creative turnaround throughout the season -- strong hints, in fact. But as "Chapter 10" wraps up, the viewer is left to wonder if the show simply stumbled onto those hints and had no idea what to do with them.
While American Horror Story season 6 was a horror coaster that shot to extremes of shock and gore, the finale was a Roanoke nightmare. Why this episode even had to happen remains an unsolved mystery.
On some level, we have to wonder whether this episode was even necessary. But in the end, the finale is pretty fun and draws a neat bow around the season.
Instead of rushing to the finish, Roanoke just limped through this last episode, giving us a coda to Lee's life rather than a satisfying or meaningful conclusion.
Packed with dumb spoofs of trashy shows, the Roanoke finale didn't just feel soft and scattered, but downright sinful by betraying the spirits of American Horror Story's most memorable women.
The finale unfortunately fell into the same traps and was ultimately too clever for its own good, making it a disappointing ending to what would have otherwise been a very solid season.
This year, American Horror Story has been as big and as loud as ever. But its final, somber note, is the one that hits hardest. In the end, it really was all about Flora.
