In The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day timeline, Sarah Connor was a 19-year-old waitress living in L.A when, on a typical night, she was saved by a young soldier, Kyle Reese. Kyle told her that he was sent by her unborn son from the future to save her from The Terminator. Kyle dies while accomplishing his mission, and Sarah is left pregnant with his child and baring the burden of knowing that the nuclear war against the machines is coming. Ten years after Kyle's death, Sarah has become a warrior, strong and determined, unyeilding. But in her determination, she bombed a computer factory and was arrested, deemed criminally insane, and thrown into a mental hospital. Her teenage son, John, accompanied by a reprogramed Terminator from the future, break her out of the high security hospital and continue on their mission to prevent the impending war. By destroying the remains of the first terminator and part of the Cyberdine building, Sarah, her son and the Terminator delay the war with the machines.On Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines timeline, she succumbed to terminal leukemia and lived long enough to see the original 1997 Judgment Day pass without incident, and was cremated in Mexico. Her ashes were spread at sea while a casket containing a cache of weapons was placed for John to find at a false grave site in accordance with her will, never truly believing that they had beaten Skynet, even at the end.On Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles timeline - which picks up after Terminator 2: Judgment Day and splits the timeline away from Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines - she and her son continue with their lives on the run, changing schools and towns all the time until they are approached by two cyborgs, Cameron and Cromartie, in Red Valley, New Mexico. Cameron is assigned to protect Sarah and John so she helps them by traveling to 2007 via time machine. There Sarah, Cameron, John, and Derek Reese (Kyle Reese's older brother) try and find ways to stop Skynet from ever being built. From Cameron, she learned of the her future death from cancer as she find herself not only trying to continue her missions to prevent Skynet's birth and preparing John's future role, but also preventing her own death as well.On Terminator Genisys timeline. Sarah is raised by The Terminator after the T1000 killed her parents when she was 9 years old and The Terminator whom is nicknamed Pops by Sarah, trains Sarah to fight and defend herself from other Terminators. 11 years later, Pops and Sarah take out the T800 and they rescue Kyle Reese from the T1000. Sarah explains to Kyle that the timeline has changed and Pops had been sent to 1973 to protect her, but Pops does not know who sent him back to protect Sarah as it was deleted from his memory bank. After the T1000 is killed in acid trap, which the flesh on Pop's arm is melted in the process. Kyle learns Pops and Sarah have constructed a Time Displacement Device and they intend to travel across time to 1997 to stop Skynet from being created. Plagued by memories of his life from alternate timeline, Kyle convinces Pops and Sarah that they should go to 2017 instead. Unable to go with them to 2017 due to to his damaged skin because the magnetic field in the Time Displacement Device will destroy him, Pops remains behind and activates the Time Displacement Device and Sarah and Kyle travel forward in time to 2017.
