At John Connor's house, his foster parents Todd and Janelle Voight make a fruitless attempts to get John to clean up his room. Janelle is fed up and sends a relunctant Todd out to talk to John, but he just ignores and ridicules him, telling Todd that Janelle is not his mom. He leaves on his bike with his friend Tim.The Terminator and John stop by a pay phone because John insist on calling his foster parents to warn them. Janelle answers, and expresses her concern for John. John is confused, as she is never this nice. He can hear Todd through the phone yelling at the dog for barking continuously, but he is suddenly silenced. John worries that the T-1000 might be there already. Terminator asks John for the dog's name; its Max. He takes over the horn and asks Janelle in Johns voice what is wrong with Wolfy. Janelle says Wolfy is fine. Terminator hangs up and says John's foster parents are dead. The camera pulls back on Janelle and shows that her arm has been gradually formed into a silver blade, which has skewered Todd's head.
