Nikolai Romilly was born in London, England in the year 2032 to parents from Nigeria. He emigrated to America with his family as a child to escape the famine wars and settled in Colorado. He attended the University of Colorado graduating with a degree in physics in 2057 and soon afterwards recruited to work for NASA. He took part in the Endurance mission to be an advisor of the crew with the potentially habitable planets and briefed them on the possibilities. Romilly is a calm and genteel man that learns to overcome the uncomfortable and stifling loneliness of space travel. During their 3 hour mission on Miller's Planet, he spent 23 years alone on the Endurance with a couple of stretches in cryosleep, studying the black hole Gargantua with little success and unable to transmit any data back to Earth. He proceeds with Cooper and Brand to the mission on Mann's Planet, but is killed while attempting to retrieve data from Mann's robot KIPP that explodes Mann's living quarters. Show less «
